The Chukchi and Yupik people were the last groups to be subdued in the Russian conquest of Siberia. These coastal people are the western-most members of a cultural group that in ancient times migrated 3000 miles across North America to Greenland. Our Whale & Walrus tour is a 12-day trip traveling along the coast of Chukotka stopping at villages along the way.  We will explore the native culture including visiting with the local reindeer herders. Wildlife available for observation includes gray whales, walrus,  seals and many sea birds. The evenings will include possible visits to the natural hot springs for relaxation.
